Why I Started Juicing for Health and Weight Loss

Drinking freshly made vegetable juices on a regular basis is one of the best things you can do to promote your own health and well being. The Benefits of Juicing have been reported to have a considerable impact on your everyday life, helping you fight disease and stay healthy. Follow my experiment as I start this adventure to improve my health with a juicing diet.

So 2010 wasn’t a great year for me. What ruined my year was the fact that I chose to allow myself to eat horribly. I let my laziness dictate my diet and allowed myself to think that eating “comfort foods” would somehow make me feel better and if I feel better today that I will be more active tomorrow. But all that really accomplished was wanting to do the same lazy thing the next day. In 2010 my weight ballooned to its highest that it has ever been.

Look I’m not saying that I gained crazy amounts of weight or anything. But I did break numbers that I had promised myself to never go past and I definitely wasn’t happy about how I looked. Finally in 2011 i started getting myself back together when I decided to eliminate sugar from my diet. This meant no more breads, pastas, sodas, deserts.. anything that had sugar in it.. I have to say that it worked pretty well and I’ve dropped a decent amount of weight… but at the end of the day I know that what I AM putting into my body is still not great.. I’m still being lazy and not getting fresh whole fruits and vegetables. I’m missing out on all of the vitamins and nutrients that I know are important for both physical and mental health.. I need to do something else…

Recently I stumbled upon a documentary. (Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead)

This video talks about a guy that was having crazy health problems and decides to do take on a 60 day Juice Feast.. this is where he consumes nothing but juices from whole fruits and vegetables for 60 days.. You watch his journey as he explains the benefits of juicing whole fruits and vegetables and you see NOT ONLY the results in his own physical appearance and health but also the people whom he interacts with along the way.

This got me really inspired and interested in giving a juicing diet a try. Now, I’m not interested in doing a X number of days juice feast right now. I’m just looking to find a way to dramatically increase the amount of vitamins and nutrients that I get into my body. I figure that I am a pretty average guy. I’m not excessively obese, I don’t have existing physical problems that I am trying to fix via a better diet, I’m not a vegan, in fact I don’t like vegetables at all. I’m just an average guy trying to better his diet and improve his physical health because I know it will impact me in the future.

This is going to be a completely new experience for me but one that I think a lot of people might find interesting and could possibly relate to. So this is what I am going to do… I’m going to record all of my thoughts and concerns about entering this experiment, I’m going to share things like which juicer I decide on, and why. Answer questions like “How am I dealing with increased cost of produce”, and “Which juice recipes are the best?” (for even the pickiest of eaters).. and much more.

Your site looks great, and I like that you’re just starting juicing, not jumping right into a feast/fast. I start my fast tomorrow and I’m really looking forward to it. I’m going to try between 3-5 days at first, then make sure I juice on a daily basis.
